I am working on a report for my legal department. Some of the field names are (1)Name of case, (2)Description and (3)Comments.

(1)&(2) are text boxes and the CanGrow property is set to "No".

(3) is a text box and the CanGrow property is set the "Yes". Sometimes the text can be only a couple of lines and sometimes it can go on through several pages.

My problem is when the comments for one case extend to several pages. If height of the comments field on the final page is shorter than the height of the other fields, the text in the other fields is truncated. The height of the comments field sets the height for the other comments in the report. I want the column with the most text to set height of the field for each detail/record.

I have tried setting the CanGrow properties of (1)&(2) to "Yes" but when the comments for a record extend to several pages, I do not see (1)&(2) on the following pages. In other words, the detail for a record only repeats on subsequent pages if I set the Can Grow properties to "No".

Please help!!!

1. Do you want the first 2 fields to appear on every page? If so, can you just put them in the header section of the document? Of course that would make it longer, but it might be worth it. I'm not sure if that'll fix your situation, but I figure it's worth a try.

Try replacing this with a linked Word doc or OLE object. A text box really is not approprite for this task.

Cogito eggo sum – I think, therefore I am a waffle.

Thank you for your suggestions. I moved the first two fields to the header section and left the comments in the details section. This solves my problem! YEAH! However, my report looks like this:

Name of Case Description
Comments

Is there any way I can get this on one single row?

Not in a single Row, given the default layout of a form - header, detail...

However, you could line them all up in the same column in Design View, just clicking and dragging each field, resizing where appropriate. Or since you have Access 2007, you could also do this part in Layout View.

I tried this. It is still not giving me what I want.

Columns (1)&(2)typically aren't that long. Do you know how I can force the height to be at least 3"? I think this will solve my problem.

Thanks

Alright, here's what I'd do, I think, from what you're saying:

The first 2 textboxes, I'd put side by side in the header....
The third text box, I'd put directly under textbox1 in the header... that'd line them up. I don't see why it wouldn't

To force a control to be at least a certain height is done in Design view. Just click a side, and pull/drag... or type the value you want into the control's properties...

Are we still talking about the same thing? A User form? Just wanted to be sure..
