I opened my database with Access 2007 and can't find how the mdw works with this version.
My mdw is set up so only certain people have access to the database. In addition to that, some people see some forms while others can not.

Access 2007 employs a new file format/extension, .ACCDB or .ACCDE. This new file format does NOT use user-level security. If you want to open your older Access databases with Access 2007 and still have user-level security, make sure you keep it in a .mdb format. Otherwise, your .mdw files will be meaningless. If you keep your database in .mdb format, you won't be able to use some of the enhancements available in Access 2007 (eg multivalue fields, attachment data types), but you will preserve the security that you've set up.
