Hello again. my last problem is with Access Runtime. i split the database and i packaged the front end. i have the backend on a shared network drive. in my package, i require the user to have runtime on their machine. my problem is, when the user installs the package and opens it, the Access screen in blank and it only has an Adobe Acrobat tab on the top left. i set the startup Macro in the package to AutoExec, which is my startup macro. another thing that is interesting was i tried installing it and running it on my machine. works great except when i import with a button or move data from one table to another with a button. it gives me "Execution of this application has stopped due to a run-time error. the application cant continue and will shutdown." i put some error handling code on the import, and it didnt catch anything.

Any ideas???

please anyone help me? i REALLY need this to work. if i dont get it figured out by Friday, we are scrapping the whole project. i got the runtime working so it only shows the Adobe tab, but not my startup form. i thought at first that my runtime wont let AutoExec macros to work, so i converted it to VBA and it still didnt work.

I'm having the same problem. I've determined so far that as soon as any VBA code runs, the error appears. Error trapping doesn't help at all, either. I'm researching the problem also.

ok. well i found a website:
it tells you that error trapping doesnt work in runtime and macros dont work. im currently in the process of installing access 2003 and redoing the whole database because you can make an executable a lot easier in 03

Great. So they provide a product that works on only simple databases, and if any complexity is present in the code at all, it crashes. Way to go, Microsoft. Should have known better than to believe MS would put out a "free product".

lol. yeah. im beginning to hate Microsoft more and more. it also sucks that they are basically taking over.

ill let you know if i can get it to work with 03.

microsoft Access 2003 work beautifully. it took me 20 minutes to remake the database and disable all the menus and toolbars. its not the most secure database, but im using it for 6 internal users.
