Hi,
Is anyone else out there using Access 2003 and Windows 7? I seem to be having a little problem and do not know if it is a version problem or what.

I have set up my tables, created a query to link them together. The I design my form in design view... but when I click on form view, I get a blank page.

Does anyone have any idea of why this would happen?

Thanks in advance for your help.
David

Do you get an utterly empty page (which would be a major bug in Access) or do you get a page where the fields are visible but empty? What happens if you switch the form to table view rather than form view?

This is normal behavior when

A) There are no records

B) The form is Read-Only

There are a number of things that can cause the latter.

AllowAdditions set to No

Recordset Type set to Snapshot

USer not having Write permission for the folder that holds the database file

Form based on a Query that is Read-Only

If the form is based on a Query, from the Objects Dialog box go to Queries and click on the query that your form is based on to open it. Now try to enter a new record directly into the query. If you're unable to do so, this is the cause
of your problem.

If your query is Read-Only, follow this link to Allen Browne’s article explaining the reasons this happens.

The replies above are good technical answers that address the most likely cause of your problem. I am only chiming in because I have been running Win7 & Access 2003 on my primary development computer for about 3-4 weeks now and have not seen what you are describing. I also have a Win7 Access 2007 computer and have not seen any such behavior there either.

Chiming in is good! You're passing on experience that you've had and few of us have had, most of us not running Windows 7 yet!

I answer Access 2007 questions every day, not because I run it (which I don't) but because people that do have shared their experiences with it!

As the mystery writer Robert Parker frequently says "It's better to know than not to know!"

Does the query produce records? -- is this a join type issue

Who knows? The OP hasn't responded since posting the question seven days ago! But that, again, would come under the category of having no records, and would still also require that the form also be Read-Only. Absence of records, by itself, doesn't result in the disappearance of the controls themselves.
