Hi guys, I have a 36MB database that a number of my users run, problem is that just recently it has become very slow to open.

It used to open almost instantly and show the main form now it takes an age as if it is trying to reference something. Once open it runs fine.

I have checked the tables (not an expert in access) there are only three tables in the relationships and have tried this below:

Any ideas?!?!

Nick

1. Have you compacted/repaired the database lately? (Menu path: Tools, Database utilities)
2. Is this database located on a server, and if so what OS is the server running? A2000 can be slow if located on boxes running older versions of NT or non-Windows OS.
3. Any db problems highligted by Tools, Analyse, Performance?

It is normally pulled off a server but i have and am testing it locally with the same results...

36 MB!!
I suggest the following

[ul]
[li] [red]Do a Back up first[/red][/li]

[li] Do a Compact & Repair- this will solve most of the problems [/li]
[ul]
[li] Compact and Repair automatically at the start of each day
[/li]
[li] Auto Compact your Database when FileSize = x [/li] [/ul]

[li] Split the DB into front & Back End- this will increase the speed[/li]
[ul]
[li] Manually split a database into a frontend - backend [/li]
[/ul]

[li] Backup the data into a diferent DB and empty the tables if possible[/li]

[li] Remove any if there is any big image on the form [/li]
[/ul]
