Access 2000 DB - ODBC call failed when opening in Access 2010

I have an Access 2000 database that we have been opening via a runtime version of Access 2000 and the full version of Access 2003 for years. It has three tables that are linked to tables in a MySQL DB. These tables are also accessed by some Rockwell software. Recently we upgraded to Office 2010 Pro in the office. This seems to have removed the runtime we had on most machines. Since then, the Office 2010 PC's cannot access the MYSQL tables.

For computers that still have the runtime, and computers that have the full version of Access 2003, everything continues to work fine. However, on the machines that have Office 2010 Pro on them, we get a ODBC call failed error when we try and open a form that accesses any of the MySQL tables. I tried upgrading the DB to Access 2003 and 2007...neither of which took care of the issue.

Anyone have any ideas?

What version of MySQL is installed? Could the old version have been removed as well as the Access installation?

The version is 8. It is still in place on the server and is working fine for PC's that don't have Office 2010 yet. Also, there is another app that has a database on it and it works fine. So I feel pretty confident that its not an SQL issue.

On the 2010 box try relinking the MySQL tables.

Forgot: also try adding the a trusted location where the backend resides in the Trust Center.

I first added it in the trust center hoping that would take care of it.....no luck. Then I relinked the three tables, no change.

Wow. I'm out of ideas. Maybe go into Contol Paneld Admin tools and see if you can successfully create a DSN just to make sure that particular PC recognizes the MySQL provider?
Only other thing I can think of would be an incompatibility with Acc2010 and the Rockwell software?

I know its going to end up being one of those easy things that I kick myself for not figuring out....But I'm totally at a loss right now too. Since the original post, I did try and creating a DSN and no luck. Since Rockwell doesn't directly talk to Access, it doesn't seem like it could have an affect, but its possible. I'm real close to creating a new Access DB and DSN and seeing if it works with the old SQL table.

If you cannot create a DSN then that PC does not have a compatible ODBC driver installed.

Now that makes sense. I have a choice of several different drivers and I chose the newest of the group, but maybe that was a mistake. I will try a different one.
