greetings

(I'm running Access 2000 (9.0.6926 SP3))

I have several dozen local databases which although exclusively used by myself, occasionally need to be viewed by other users

I set this on the databases using windows explorer, right-clicking on each database file and adding domain users to the security/permissions section

However, when I Compact and Repair a database, the permissions 'reset' themselves to be just the local Administrator, the creator (myself), and SYSTEM

any thoughts/advice?

many thanks

CAn you not set the permissions at the folder level, such that those permissions cascade to files in the folder?

Then when the compact/repairs creates the new db (that's what it does, creates and then renames a new db) it will inherit permissions from the folder.
