When trying to open databases through Internet Explorer (4 and 5) some copies of access truncate the file names and will not open the database. For example the database is located at R:\Long Folder Name\Database File.mdb it comes up with the error R:\longfold\database.mdb does not exist. Some copies of Access will open this database some will not.

You may be encountering the situation where the failing copies are not long filename aware and the filename is in error. For example, in your r:\Long Folder Name\Database File.mdb, the non long filename aware application would recognize a name such as r:\longfo~1\databa~1.mdb which is how the dos short version of the name is recorded in the directory. The part of the name ~n could be a different number depending on how many long names result in the first 6 charaters being equal.
