I have a linux box hosting my own domain and email. My question is how do I accept email for another domain and have that email treated as if it were for my domain? I thought this was done in the domaintable file so I added the entry for the domain I wanted to accept mail for and I also added my domain, but It didn't work. Here is an example of my domaintable file:

thirdpartydomain.com mydomain.com

In theory, this should tell sendmail to accept mail for thirdpartydomain.com and treat it as it were for mydomain.com right? Or is this the wrong file to edit?

Depends on your sendmail.cf (and Sendmail version in general). You should post that up here, editing for security if you wish.

Cheers,

D.

Hey RhythmAce,
I don't seem to have a sendmail.cw file. If I create this file and add the previous entry, will it take effect? Or is there something else I have to do.

list all your local hosts in /etc/mail/local-host-names. It is just like your /etc/hosts file. List everything from localhost, machine name to any domains you are hosting. A program called webmin makes configuring your servers a lot easier. You might want to check it out at
