Absence Request and Vacation Schedule Management

I've just succesful installed the "Absence Request and Vacation Schedule Management Template" (from

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/windowsserver/sharepoint/bb407286.aspx)

to my sharepoint.


It runs very well just I am having difficulty trying to find how to personalise this template - i.e. with who can accept or refuse holiday requests etc. Does anyone know where abouts these templates can be modified?

You will need Offuce SharePoint Designer to do any real custom work to this template. You can modify the work flows from here as well.

What we ended up doing is "hiding" the approval web part so no one could see it. Then we added a "manager" column to the request form and modified the workflow in designer so that an email goes out to the manager with the link to approve. Once he approves it, it goes to approved and the user gets a notification letting them know.

I have downloaded a trial version of the Office Sharepoint Deseigner. And I've located the workflows. Would i be right in saying I could modify the "setup" workflow to say:-

"IF user request requires approval - AND user is in GroupX
THEN set status to pending AND E-Mail UserABC"

Finally - where do you set who can approve and rejected the holidays? I'm trying to avoid using built-in groups.
