Sorry for starting a new thread but I need the attention.

I'm almost about to buy this following printer from amazon.co.uk for about 120 Euro with delivery.

Canon LaserShot LBP1210 LaserShot laser printer (600 dpi/ 2400 x 600 dpi)

If anyone has any comments about this paritcular brand or anything, let me know.

Again, sorry for starting the new thread.

You might have better luck posting this in the Server Rack\Printers forum. You can also do a google search on the model # and should be able to find some reviews. Searching the printer newsgroups might be helpful as well.

Good luck.

Not sure about this particular model, but my sister has an lbp-660 (4ppm, GDI printer) and the toners are very expensive; moreover there don't seem to be compatibles available so it looks like when the toner finishes, the printer will be junked, because you can buy half a new printer for the price of a toner.

canon has traditionally made most of the engines for almost all of HP's laser printers, newer color models excluded. However, as a complete package, I don't know how well they perform.
Recommendation: Laser = Hewlett Packard
Inkjet = Epson
Dot Matrix = Okidata
period.

I was looking for a laser printer myself. nothing fancy and a cheap simple one would do. I scouted Ebay for a HP Laserjet 5L/6L where I judge I could get the 5L for under 50 pound with delivery. Then I chance across this Canon LBP1210 for 79.99 pound after a massive 59% discount. You can't seem to get this price in any other website where it ranges from 120 to over 200 pound.

Now I am worried that there is a catch somewhere. The dpi is at 600x600 which can go up to 2400 with some kind of tech. enhancement. The toner is sold available at amazon to for 39.99 pound and will last for about 1500pages.

This deal seems to kick the discontinued laserjet 5l/gL in the ass and for a smashing price too. Now, has anybody actually bought the printer ? or know anything about it ?

It apparently comes with a separate "drum" and toner parts. I don't really know the significane of that. Does anybody know if the 79.99 pound comes with the toner also ? Thanks guys for the comments.

Some of the new OKI laser printers have been getting good comparison reviews recently. Don't know much more than that but may be worth a little investigation. Prices are attractive too.
