Hi everybody...
My platform is secured by a Raprtor Firewall...
I'm administrator but not the one who install RF !
So i'm not good at all to manage it!
We here would install the msn messenger service on our exchange 2000 server!
My question is :
Which configuration to apply on raptor to allow msn messenging ?
Will these configuration be a free door for hackers?????
what is the best thing to do ?
thank u for responses..
and sorry for any mistake ! i'm french...
Olivier

thank you for your reply ;o)
however my real question was : does enable msn messenger working through Raptor open a door for hackers ??? is this safe ?
ty again for any reply ;o)

Oliver,

To answer the question, YES, there is a danger involved, especially when you are opening up a port for an extended period of time as Microsoft indicates in the following:

"To enable the use of MSN Messenger Service: Open outgoing TCP Port 1863, and configure it so that sockets on this port are open for extended periods of time."

The choice is yours...

thank you for your help ;o) it's great ...
best regards...
olivier
