I have project I developed that is to be placed on several laptops for use in the field. One laptop is a Compaq Presario 1255. My problem is the forms are developed for a screen resolution of 1024 X 768. The compaq is defaulted to 800 X 600. I tried to change the settings on the compaq, via.. advanced, monitor, "automatically detect Plug and Play monitors" the only way that was possible.... however this not working, it behaves very erratic and still shows 88 X 600. I hate to have to maintain a seperate program file for forms updates just for one laptop. Anyone ever come across this problem before? Is the monitor setting hard wired or would a different driver maybe solve this problem? I have very little experience with laptops.

Laptops are usually limited by the actual display. It will have a maximum display resolution and often anything smaller will simply be displayed in part of the screen. Anything larger than the hardware was designed for is often not possible to display.

You will need to explore resizable or scrolling forms, or simply not support the smaller format - depending on your users, it's always an option to insist on minimum hardware requirements.

Not all screens can support all resolutions. Unfortunately, you need to develop for the lowest common denominator.

This particular laptop is described thusly:

Maximum internal resolution of up to 800 x 600 x 16M; with external monitor - 1280 x 1024 non-interlaced

I guess I thought as much Rick. Thanks for your expert advice. I might accidentally drop this laptop today, while climbing stairs.. for good measure..... Whoops... uh oh..need a new one!!! LOL

Depending on your VFP version, if it is acceptable, you could add scrollbars to the forms themselves.
