The AAU2 card can be upgraded to an SNMP agent card with the addition of extra software. It is then used by configuring one MML port to spontaniously print out alarms. The AAU will then generate an SNMP trap but you will need an SNMP application to interprate these traps. The MIB for the MD110 is included With the Software.
Installation / configuration details are included in Dynatext.
1. You have a MD-Release prior BC10 and you want to have access from EMG or FIOL over Ethernet. Then connect a cable between IPU-Port and first or second port on AAU. Connect the Ethernet-Port to your local Network
2. You have a billing-system with a FTP-Client. Then AAU can collect SMDR-data from MD110. Your Billing-System then fetches the data (1x per hour or 1x per day) Normally the third port of AAU is used. You need cab-software (implement this with FTP and copy the files)
3. You have a management-system like HP Openview or Event-Manager connected, Then configure one IPU-Port to printout spontaneous alarms (alapi)and connect it to the AAU2
To program AAU connect a special delivered cable to the 4.port on AAU. Use FIOL or Hyperterminal, press return if necessary, prompt will be there. Username should be: agent Password is: spectre. Give the card all data, which is needed, then reload the card.
I give you further details, if you tell me, which function you need.
Hi,
did any of you manage to get the AAU to forward SNMP traps? I was able to configure the card so that I could Telnet to the MD110, but never managed to get SNMP traps. I configured the md110 to output alarms with
ALAPI:
The software came with the AAU card. I did all the configs as per DynaText and loaded them on the card via ftp. Rebooted the card. The only alarm I ever got was the one for the card rebooting.
I think its easy to configure the AAU to make snmp-traps pssible. I made it twice. But before that I read the Documentation about doing this in Alex-Lib or DynaText.
The Documentation is very good.
Anyway ican give a short guide to do this.
1. You need the snmp Package for AAU which includes the Files: basesnmp.bin and mdsnmp.bin in the Folder /bin, mib2sys.cnf in the Folder /cnf
2. You need to Configure the File comport.cnf such like this: mml com1 9600 8 n 1 xon/xoff <--- for com with MD
snmp com3 9600 8 n 1 xon/xoff <---read MD-Config and Alapi
3. In the File communit.cnf you can change the community. In a normal case you don`t have to do this.
4. In the File mdconfig.cnf you must edit the comport for configuration poll to the MD. Also you musr edit the Username and Password for the MD ( if you have BC9 or lower comment the line with #).
5. In the File mib2sys.cnf you can edit the Name and Location for the AAU. But it is not recommendet.
6. In the File trapcomm.cnf edit the IP-Adress and community of the Event Manager or any other snmp Application.
7. Edit the File Startup.bin to load Application Data
like this: /bin/tncom -n
/bin//mdsnmp -c
A little trick: Starting tncom with -n allows you look at the Communication Ports of the AAU in work. Its a command to trace something on the communication ports.
But after all this doing restart the AAU. After restart and a few seconds you can watch at com port4 that the AAU trys to log on to the MD. Now the AAu reads the Configuration from the MD and after finish the AAU sents the Configuration to the Destination you have entered in the File trapcomm.cnf.
That function named "Configuration Poll".
