Have an issue that I cannot figure out. We had some greetings professionally recorded. Converted them using Audacity to 16 bit, 8khz mono. Uploaded to VM Pro.
Playback when calling in is super slow. Not sure what I am doing wrong. This is Server Edition Select 11.04 (Powered By, Partner Hosted) on VMWare 6.5.

The bit rate of the wav file is to high.
I used Audacity in the past and found it too difficult to use so i switched to a online converting site :It is as easy as can be ,pretty fast and can handle multiple files in one strike.
Upload the audio files, choose 16 bit, 8000khz ,mono and convert.

Audacity is dead simple. Look for the drop down selection in the lower left hand corner and set it to 8000. Export as wav and you're done.

You can also use it to edit your own recordings, normalize, compress, edit out breath noises, cut and splice announcements, etc. Well worth the small learning curve

Audacity is how I normally do these. Have done dozens of files for customers, it seems to be just today.

intrigant - Great site, that did it for me. Thanks so much.

TouchToneTommy - That's exactly how I did it. The file even came out at 16bit, 8khz mono, confirmed by Mediainfo and VMPro. VMPro just didn't seem to like it for some reason.

Thanks guys for the assistance.

The trick is where you change the Sample Rate, if you change it on the sound channel it will just stretch the file, so from 16kHz to 8kHz it would be half speed.

Lately I've been using the FFmpeg plugin as it allow for more settings and file formats.
It also allows changing the Sample Rate of the file.

Audacity is too complex for such an easy task.
I want three clicks to get it done.
