For starters, this is an Norstar 8x24 with StarTalk 4 port running DR5.

When callers zero out of the AA message they ring the appropriate number of times at the reception station (ext. 28) and then the caller hears "The operator is not available". I would like these calls to be transferred to the Receptionist's voice mail box. Here's what I have set up:

* First vm ext.=41
* Reception ext.=28
-Forward on busy=none
-FNA=ext.41 after 8 rings

* Night Service is set up per the instructions in faq799-3717. This will allow all incoming calls to be routed to the AA when the EVENING service is selected from FTR871.

* FTR982 is set up as follows:
- ATDT avail: Y
- Business Open: Y
- Answer Lines?: Y
- ATDT: 28 (Reception's ext.)

Can anyone explain why the calls are not being routed to the reception vm box but instead callers get the "The operator is not availabe." message?

Thanks!

WHat about DRT to prime or transfer callback. Did you check these. I bet you have transfer call back set to like 4. Make this to 12 rings if you want CFNA to 41 after 8 rings.

Namly,

DRT to prime is not activated and transfer callback is set to 12 (does not come into play).

Have you set the attndt DN to 28 in the correct table of your AA programming? That takes precedence over feat982. If it is set to none, or some other DN, that may be your problem.

Also, does ext. 28 have mbx 28, or are you using the gen deliv.

Namely's got it. I'm sure transfer call back is set below cfna 8 rings on ext 28. default is 4. 0 calls will recall and go to GDM.

Response: I'm not sure what you are talking about. Could you please expand on this?

Response: I checked transfer call back and it is set to 12.

Just to clarify, here's what's going on...

Caller dials main number, immediately goes to AA. Caller presses "0" for Operator (which is ext. 28) and ext. 28 rings 8 times. Instead of going to v.m. for ext. 28, the caller hears "The operator is not available" message. I would like this call to go to ext. 28's vm box NOT general delivery.

Response: Yes, ext. 28=mbx 28

I checked the old flash/824 combination. No matter what recall timers are set at a 0 call will always return to the flash and go to GDM.

One solution is to associate mailbox 10 (theGDM) with ext 28. This will make the GDM the mailbox for ext 28.

The good: you will get message waiting indication on ext 28 for the GDM. 0 calls will transfer to ext 28.
The bad: no personal mailbox for ext 28

I just checked the old stuff also. Disregard what I said about tables- it does not apply to old startalk. I agree with telemarv:
-delete mbx 28
-assign mbx 10 to DN 28
-record the personal greeting for 28/10, and the callers will not know it also the gen deliv.
