I have an Esna-Tech VM on a Merlin Legend Release 7 version 1. Occasionally I get reports that the VM answers. I have been unable to duplicate this and no one can tell me what line they answered. There is no AA on presently. Can someone please tell me what I can check to see why this is happening.

do you have more than one station with your lines answering calls that are in vm coverage ? are you using Principle user for any lines or stations

I'm not using principal user for any lines. The VM is only there to take messages in a no answer condition when calls are transferred from the operator.

key or hybird ,how many lines , if you can , you may want to set the operator's as principal user of all the lines or if someone has pvt. lines assign them as principal users of that line , ,you sure a station mail box is not assigned as attendant

Yup, positive. The system has about 40 lines. The system is key/squared. Some departments have some lines and others have other lines. That's the way it has been...that's they way they want it. Can't I do a report of the lines or something like that?

do a complete system print out, and check it out competely, had almost the same problem on a repair case from a new customer , system was square, Finally assigned principal users to adjuncts of certains department lines ,havn't had any calls since

In Key mode, or Hybrid for lines not in pools, the lowest numbered logical ID that has voice mail coverage becomes the default extension that will send unanswered calls to voice mail. Create an adjunct extension, assign all of the lines to it, and make it the principal user of each one of them. As long as it doesn't have voice mail coverage, the lines will not cover to the voice mail.

How and where would I create an adjunct extension? I haven't done this before and I am confused.
TIA

Every MLX and TDL station has a "second" extension number, for an adjunct (which is a card that can be installed into an MLX phone to provide a S/L station or an alert). Since no one actually uses the adjunct devices, and since you can't even add one to a TDL phone, they make great phantom extension numbers. By default, if your first phone had extension 7100 in set upspace, the adjunct extension is 7300. If your first extension is 100 in 3 digit numbering, the adjunct is 300.

So they are already there, you can assign lines to them, give them voice mail coverage, and renumber them just like real extensions.

I assigned the lines to the Adjunct. Then I tried to assign them as principal user, but I get the error tone and it doesn't allow me to. I checked and they aren't assigned to other extension. I'm perplexed!!

if the lines beep at you than they are either in a pool or assigned principal user to some other station or are in a calling group as a pool or line, how did you check

I still get this complaint from my customer. If I assign all the lines to it, then make it the principal user of those lines, will others still have access to those lines?

Can anyone give me any more insight on this. I have donne a print all. If you can just tell me where to look. I stumped. I tried to give principal user to the adjunct but I just get an error tone.

See if any lines are assigned to the VM Group.

You could email me the Print All and I'd be glad to look it over as well.

I realized that before you can assign the lines as principal user they have to be assigned to the phone first. Also you can only assign 32 lines to a phone or adjunct.
