a7v333 -system failed CPU test?

Please help, I got a Asus a7v333 mobo and an Athlon 2000xp CPU.

I have installed everything required including heatsink but keep getting the error - ''system failed CPU test''.

I took the COU back and got it replaced but still I get the same error.

Anyone had this before?

I got that before (on the same board) when I mistakenly put the floppy cable in backwards.I'm sure you've already checked all your conections but if not thats a place to start.

Just wanted to say that I have the same board with the Athlon XP 1900+ and that I would agree with Raindancer...triple check all connections and then check it again.

All connections checked, Cmos reset (put screwdriver metal against both pins of CLR_RTC, after taking Battery out.)

This is the second CPU so I doubt it will be that.

How do you update the bios if it doesn't load?
