All-

I have a group policy that is set for users to not be able to change their password via the ctrl alt del option but I would like to know if in fact they are getting prompted that their password will change, which users were prompted..

is there anything a canned script or freeware tool that will help me determine if any users were at least prompted that their password will soon change?

thanks for any info

If you have passwords expiring but you don't allow changing via the security screen, then how do you expected your users to change their passwords?

I hope you find this post helpful.

Hi Markdmac,

Actually I don't want them to be able to change them by design.. and that is what it is doing.

What I would like is a method to detect whether or not a certain group or users or users in general were ever alerted that their password will expire soon.

I don't see anything in the group policy that would handle this and have looked for any logon scripts that might be checking this but I have this manager that swears he saw a warning or alert stating that his password will expire soon. I can't find anywhere that this is coded for or in a policy.

sorry if I mis-wrote what my intent was.

thanks

There is no policy to block this. It is by design. The only way to never get promted it to set all users to "Never Expire"....a big no-no. But it is your environment.
