Hi All,
Have a network of 3 XP Pro Machines and a W98 2e machine.
All can see and talk to each other just fine. However, the W98 machine cannot see the internet. Everyone else does just fine. Now the real fun. The router/modem cannot see the MAC of the 98 machine and the 98 machine cannot ping the router/modem.

How can this be ????????
Configuration is a hub to which all computers connect and the hub thru the uplink port connects to the Siemens 5660 Router/modem which is connected to our DSL pipe to the clouds.

Anyone have any idea how to get the 98 machine to see the internet???

Thanks in advance.

Throw-out the hub.

It is likely that the "hub" shares the uplink port with one of the regular LAN ports, and both cannot be in use at the same time.

Will check this out.

Thanks for the help

So all can know --- The reply above lead me to stick the network cable into an unused LAN port on the hub and just as 'bcastner' suspected the system now works fine. It appears that it is only that one LAN port that is goofy -- or sick -- but it is not in use anymore and the whole network is A-OK.

So if you have a computer that doesn't seem to be doing what it should on your network --- try a simple, switch the cable to a port that you know works. May be the answer.

Thanks bcastner
