I usually do static websites with ASPs etc. However I have got a contract to update a website and also enable acceptance of credit cards for transactions which would exceed 1000 US dollars.

The clients business is based in Toronto Canada.

Any suggestions how I should go about this?

ASPs? Application Service Providers? Or??

However use a payment gateway rather than try and take payments directly.

Chris.

Never mind this jesus character, stars had to die for me to live.

Talk to your client's bank or your credit card provider. The chances are they either run their own payment processing service or have links to another. Or try one of the big providers like Worldpay.

(The fact that your client is based in Canada is not particlarly relevant. These payment services are pretty well global now.)

What about the changes the new PDS 2 directive make? That should actually allow to make payments on your website. Check that out, maybe you could solve this problem without third party service providers.
