Would getting windows XP be a bad idea for some one who likes to play games alot? I mean alot of computer games dont support windows XP... not that I know of. So all I am wondering is if I should get some other windows version, like maybe Windows 2000 since quite a few games have support for it. What should I do?

XP has a lot going for it.If the game isnt supported you can quite often run it using make compatible which although no longer called that works that way.

So are you saying some games, even though they where not made for Windows XP they can still sometimes be played on it??

I can confirm although certain games are not supported at this time and don't recieve XP's official tested tick system they do work, and that goes for a lot of programs and drivers that bring up a warning on loading saying that they aren't supported yet work fine when installed.
I can also say that I have never known an o/s with such a complete driver database, everything worked on my daughters and my puter, one a Celeron and the other an Athlon. It looks beautifullllllllllll!!!!!! Martin

I would wait for it to be out longer. Many graphic intensive games need the best drivers available. It may be a while until the updated drivers come out for XP. That's how it was going to 2000, anyway.

If you are unsure about getting you feet totally wet, then dual boot.

Windows XP should be able to play pretty much anything that you can throw at it. It may not be able to handle some antiquated games, but that is life.

I am running XP home and it is fast, faster then 98SE! Troy Williams B.Eng.

I too dual boot, lucky cos my modem won't work in XP :( (and the irony is that it says it can check for an updated driver ON THE INTERNET) anyway, back to the point, i have gotten masters of orion 2 (1996)to work, and am having no probs, oh and an other thing, XP supports far more games than win2k (i think, correct me if i am wrong)

I had to download the new drivers for my modem at work so I could get my home computer to work. The best idea (one that I didn't use) is to update the drivers BEFORE you install XP.

Reminds me of "Keyboard error, press F1 to continue".
