A question about DID's and external calls

Our system apparently has a large number of DID's, that correspond to DN's internally, as I understand it.

For example if my phone is DN 150, you could say, dial 855-4150 and get my desk. This is true of most all of our sets, a prefix, then 4, then the DN.

I am uncertain how and where this is controlled. I would like to be able to disable this externally dial-able number on certain sets.

I tried adding RDI to a test set, but it gave me an error citing that Supp 131 was not enabled.

Advice is as always, appreciated.

That's what I get trying to add CLS RDI.

I'm not finding TARG in my big manual. TGAR I don't fully understand. I can assume based on the book: Trunk Group Access Restriction has an obvious meaning but I'm unsure how to make use of it.

TGAR seems to be 0 on all of my sets, at least that I've checked or noticed.

Ok, Routs have a TARG parameter and extensions have a TGAR parameter:

For example if Rout 0 has: TARG 1 2 3
All the extension that have TGAR 1, 2 or 3 can´t dial or recieve calls from this routs, Just extension with tgar diferent from 1,2 or 3 can receive calls from this routs ( If the extension has TGAR 0 means that doesn`t have TGAR restriction)

Hmm...

Well, I've tried changing TGAR to 0, 1, 2, and 3 on my test set. The external 855-5+DN works on all 4 settings.

I guess I should print the routes though I don't remember exactly how that's done. CDRB or CRDB or something. I forget which load menu as well.

LD 16 CHG
TYPE RDB
CUST 0 (Enter until TARG)
RDB (Your DID rout)
TARG 2 (For example)

LD 20 CHG
TYPE (Your extension to change)
TN XX XX (Enter until TGAR)
TGAR 2 (Set TGAR 2 for being the as the DID rout)

Thanks for the continued help.

There's only one thing in your reply I don't understand:

RDB (Your DID rout)

I assume that means type the DID rout in question, then change the TARG for it. My problem is the "DID rout" part. I don't really know what that means.

Are we trying to do a Lee? ie, making things more difficult than they really need to be? DID numbers are bought in blocks from your service provider - if all you want to do is have a set that doesn't have a DID but is still a working phone (can call out, can receive operator assisted calls from your front desk/receptionist) simply assign it a number that is not one of your DID numbers.

You'll have to contact your service provider to find out which blocks of numbers you own. You can list the unused numbers on your switch in LD 20:
REQ: prt
TYPE: ludn <--(List Unused DN)
CUST 0
DN (hit enter to see all of them or type a number to narrow the range - type "5" to see all unused #s that start with 5, etc...)

From that list and looking at your service provider's list of numbers you own, you can see what numbers you can assign to a phone to make it an internal extension without being a DID phone number.

ANd, if I miised the point copletely, ignore me. ;-)

Lee,

Thanks, that actually sounds like the easiest thing to do here. I do have a list of numbers so I don't know why I didn't think of that before.

Thanks again.
