A Pagemaker style problem that's driving me nuts 1

I write technical documents In Adobe Pagemaker 6.5 which contain blocks of programming code within a bordered area. There is a style named 'Code' set up for this purpose that uses the Courier New font. When I send the completed document to my publisher, who uses EXACTLY the same style setup for the programming code, the content is displayed differently on his system. Where my code neatly fills the containing border on my system, on his it is relaid and overflows the box.

It gets better - my publisher can send the relaid P65 file back to me so that when I open it, it too appears overflowing the bounding box. However, when I reapply the style the code jumps back inside the borders.

I have tried importing the style from the version returned by my publisher but I cannot make the code overflow the box on my system, as it does on my publisher's system.

If anybody has any previous experience of this problem I'd really like to learn how it can be resolved so we both have consistent views of this content.

In the Document Setup under File in the menu What is the compose to printer setting?
If your publisher is using a different compose to printer then it can cause all kinds of problems with the flow of the text.
If your publisher doesn't have your printer which you composed the document to....no problem. all needed to be done is have him install the driver for your printer. Set the compose to printer to that on his computer....This will reflow the text and should fall back into place.

I don't think that the printer driver is the problem, in File > Document Setup my publisher's printer driver is sets to HP Laserjet 5SI/5SI MX PS,and it's the same on my system. The only difference here is that, because I don't actually have the same printer, my setup points to HP Laserjet 5SI/5SI MX PS on FILE, rather than on a true port, such as LPT1.

I have tried installing other PS drivers to see if they have any effect on relaying the problem text, but they have made no difference.

If anyone has any other suggestions I'd really like to hear from you. Thanks.

Could it be that the font causes the problem? You use "Courier New" (TrueType from Microsoft). This font will be replaced by the printer's "Courier" (built-in in every PostScript device).
Solution? Disable font replacement in printer driver and ask your publisher to have Courier New installed on his system. Or use original Courier by yourself and throw "Courier New" into IT nirvana.
