Does it ever end???
Finally got done with the program.. completed in access XP (2002)- converted to 97 so I can use it at work... I followed all the instructions to the "T" including, "save and compile" Now I'm getting runtime error code "2113" "the value you entered isn;t valid for this field"

Does anyone have any advise about converting error free from 2002 to 97 ?
Thank You

Is that field a decimal format? If so, Access 97 won't recognize it. Change it to double or long.

No, that field is short date format..thank you.

Spoon,

When you convert to a different version, you actually make a new xxx.mdb file in the new format. What sometimes happens is that the references are not correctly converted.

So, open a code window in youe Access XP, select References and then examine and note what is selected and the order.

Now make sure the same references and sequence are set in the Access 97 version. Note: Some things may be named different for earlier references (Named slightly different) on the other PC.

Hope This Helps,
Hap [2thumbsup]

thank you everyone.. for your help!

If you've done a "compile and save" successfully you don't have any reference problems (missing libraries) and should be able to focus on an incompatibility between 97 and 2002. Did you convert the back end also? Open the table directly and look at the data. Sometimes individual records become corrupted, especially if it is a memo field. If you can see the data that the form is using and there appears to be no abnormalities then you can set a breakpoint on the code to view the data in the debug (immediate) window or with Intellisense.
