Hi,

I work in IT not Comms but have the following problem that I'm hoping someone can help with.

We've got a Eicon PRI\E1-30 card installed in a Windows 2003 server. This card was purchased for a fax solution using Zetafax. Basically I can fax out but not receive. Eicon (now Dialogic) have said, after my having sent several trace logs to them that our PABX is using A-Law to send which is correct but µ-Law to receive which is why we can't receive faxes through the PRI card.

Our comms dept. have told me that our PABX can't be changed to receive using A-Law ('that's the way it is' was their reply). Does anyone have any knowledge regards the Mitel 3300 and whether this can be changed?

It's possible to have different encoding for different directions but what's the point? In Europe you should always use A-law. What kind of do PBX you have?

Yes you can change from a-law to u-law on the 3300 and vice versa but as slapin was saying you should always use a-law for europe and u-law for north america.
