A how-to question on screen pops

I'm working with a customer who's thrown an odd question at me. They want to know how to interface an application directly with MAP-D. I've bit my tongue on this, because I really couldn't think of a response beyond "why?".

The objective is to get screen pop content into a thin-client based application without having to implement CTI. I've cautioned them that while I think there may be a way around this. I couldn't give them call control capabilities - potentially, just information display.
They have a number of G3s with Conversant IVRs.

Anyone want to guide me on this?

With CVLAN enabled on the MAPD card you can use the Avaya ASAI SDK to get call information and control all stations, VDN'd and splits.

Does the ASAI SDK not require CentreVu CT? In this case, they have to implement at least the CTI server portion.

Commercially, this means though they have to implement CentreVu CT, they don't have to implement a CTI application solution, they can build their own. Something else to check out is

No the ASAI SDK requires CVLAN which is supplied with the Telephony Server and on the MAP-D card. You have to purchase a right to use licence to enable CVLAN on the MAP-D. I.e. you can connect to the telephony server OR the MAP-D card.

There is a big price difference between the cost of a Telephony Server and the RTU on the MAP-D.

CT Server is about $24000
CVLAN RTU on MAP-D is about $6000

The cheapest way to get a CTI integration to the Definity is to get the following hardware and RTU's:

On the ECS you need: (RTU = Right To Use)
* RTU MAPD
* RTU ASAI CORE
* RTU ASAI PLUS

Add-on to the ECS
* MAPD Card Hardware that is inserted into the ECS
* RTU CVLAN on MAPD

The price is around $16000 for all of the above items (please contact your local Definity reseller to get an exact quote)

When you have aquired the above you can use the free ASAI CVLAN client SDK from avaya.

The "Active Enterprise Version 5" development evironment you mention looks very nice... but very expensive... and it does require a telephony server.

iluvmyG3: Do you have any experience working with this dev kit? I am thinking about using this in VB for an application I am working on to automate the proccess of contacting a customer. Do you have any wisdom to share?
