I am a dedicated Corel user, and have been since V7. I upgraded to 11 shortly after it came out and have run into a couple hickups.
1) As I continue working the program continually slows with each process I run until it eventually crashes altogether.
2) Every once in a while I wont be able to copy to the clipboard and have to restart the program to get that function back.
3) I sometimes lose transform functions when working with placed bitmaps and/or guides.
4) I cant import pdf files since adobe came out with acrobat 7, does anyone know if a filter update is coming out to handle this?

I have: Corel 11 with service pack 2, WIN XP PRO, P4 1.70 GHz and 384 MB RAM.

I missed out on V11 (from V10 to V12) but my first thoughts are that performance would be improved by having more ram, I assume you have plenty of spare hard disk space. I am pretty sure there will be no pdf filter update but if you have full Acrobat save your pdf as eps and then import that into Draw using either eps filter or the interpreted filter if you want to edit. I suspect more RAM will help though.

I use 10 and when I went from 98 to XP this problem developed. I noticed it when my drop down menus got slower and slower then the crash. Learned to save often I hate autosave. I downloaded the patches for 10 and thought it fixed it. Some files still do it but nat all. This is the patch for XP Service pk2 patch for 11. Try it.

Correction this is srevice pkg 2 for corel not XP you need to apply 1 first

Just a thought but you might decrease the number of UNDO's to decrease the need for ram.

Thanks to you all, I have tried adjusting the undos and memory dedication in options with no noticable change, I think more RAM is the key.

As a side note, I didn't have this problem using version 9 on the same computer, is ver 11 more of a RAM hog than 9?

Yes, it does use more RAM, but moreso your OS is more of a RAM hog. Your OS wants at least 256 just for itself. You're gonna want a minimum of 512MB, preferably 1GB of RAM.. also don't forget to set your pagefile in your OS to 1.5x (minimum) your amount of RAM.
