I've had a 3550 switch fall over (see my other thread).
I have a few questions regarding it's replacement if anyone could help.
The switch has 3 x RJ45 connections, in ports 1,2 & 3
One to the publisher, one to the subscriber and another to the gateway (router).
Does it matter which of the 3 dedicated VLAN ports is connected to what component?
ie, if port 1 was originally connected to the subscriber, would it matter if i inadvertently connected this to the gateway ?
All the other ports i believe are configured for the 7905 phones.
When i perform show run from the console, i see right at the end, 2 ipconfigs.
One for VLAN1 and another for VLAN10.
VLAN 10 is the current ip address of the switch (10.10.1.254), but VLAN1 is an ip address that i don't recognise.
It's on a totally different subnet (172.X.X.X)
What is this VLAN1, and would it matter if this IP address is the same as the one in another switch (the one i copied the config from)?
