I am new to this system, and have been hired to maintain it. I have muddled through and learned a lot, but have a few questions. I hope posting this kind of seemingly mundane stuff is cool here! :)
System is Aloha TS 5.3.21

POS defaults to Delivery screen, rather than order screen - where do I change this?
I have set up a user, me, with manager level permissions, admin level BOH permissions. Yet when I "create" a fake order, pay with "cash", the drawer doesn't open --- any thoughts?
Is there a way via a text file or something to input new submenus modifiers and groups, menu items, etc. and import it into Aloha? Seems very cumbersome to input it all via the TS interface.

I'll have more, but that's it for now...thanks a ton gang!!

The job code for this employee must have settings checked under the Delivery tab of Job Code Maintenance. We use the delivery function as well, but it has been such a long time that I have played with any settings. For our employees, we have the "Delivery Dispatcher" and "Delivery Order Taker" boxes checked, and these employees screens default to the delivery screen. If you want to remove the delivery functions completely you can uncheck the boxes on the Delivery tab, or create a similar job code and leave the delivery settings unchecked and assign that job code to your employees that do not need access to the delivery screen. I am not sure of a way to change the delivery screen as the default. Seems that it would make sense to have that option. Perhaps someone on this forum could enlighten both of us!

Do you have the cash drawer assigned to your user? If not, the drawer will not fire. If so, can you get the drawer to fire at all? In the FOH go to (Functions->Financials->Cash Drawers), press Open. If your user is set up with all rights, this function should be able to open any drawer in the POS.

Thanks for the input - I was able to get the delivery screen off, but I still can't get the drawer to open.

I am logging in as a manager, and in the manager's job codes, I have checked everything, including the cash drawer option. Now - when I go into the Functions>financials>cash drawers screen, I can open the drawer just fine. But when I close a check to cash, it doesn't open. Just tells me how much change is due!

In the Functions>Financials>Cash Drawers screen, do you show up as being assigned to the cash drawer? Or, if you are using another employee to close the orders, is that employee show as being assigned to the cash drawer?

interesting - there were four employees listed on the left hand side of the screen, but none were in the Cash Drawer window...I double-clicked on each of them and they added into that window, so maybe that will work! (I'm remote right now, so I can't tell if the drawer opens or not...)
