I would like an entry level Job in running networking wiring in Michigan. Is it necessary to get A+ just to get in the door? Does anyone know another suggestion?

While A+ is not necessary, it is a good foundation on which to build. A+ followed by Network+ shows that you have the basics down and can apply yourself. It shows that you have the capacity to learn.

You might look at the HTI+, also. It delves quite a bit deeper into the infrastructure of the wired home.

Most other "cable & wiring" certs are going to be vendor specific. You might check out the BICSI certs., too.

Good Luck.

robdawg99, the best advice I can give you is this: Get out there and meet people. Somewhere down the line someone's gonna say "I know someone who would be perfect for this job......" and you're phone will ring.

Yes and No! If you plan on doing business with most companies as well as ALL major companies and the Government, the the naswer is yes. You will need to get certain certifications and A+ is usually the starting point. If you plan on running your own business and dealing ONLY with very small companies and/or the average consumer then the answer is no.

In eitjer case getting A+ certified will not hurt you at all.

Best Of Luck!
