When building a computer and installing the hard drives for a Raid 0 setup.....are they both supposed to be set as master or one master and the other slave on the primary channel???

Most RAID 0 controllers recommend that you use identical drives. One as master on the primary channel and one as master on the secondary channel. Sometimes you can install a third drive as slave on one of the channels. Check your manual, if you have one, or contact the manufacturer to be sure. You should be okay with the setup I suggested since that should work with any RAID 0 controller. If you are having problems, tell me what controller you have and maybe I can offer a solution.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanx for the advice Jonh.... I have an Epox 8k7A+ Raid is on the mobo....If I have two hard drives....one on each channel......where does my CD Rom Go? Wont the CD Rom slow things down if paired with a Hard drive?

Doesn't your motherboard have 4 IDE connectors?
2 Blue connectors are for ATA100 or RAID.
1 White and 1 Black are for other ATAPI devices such as CD-ROMs, Zip drives, Tape drives, etc.

If you don't have a manual or the (HPT 370) Highpoint RAID drivers you can download them at Epox's FTP site:
ftp://ftp.epox.com/support/motherboard/

Epox's downloadable manual doesn't provide much info. If you need more info try Abit's FTP site. They use the same HPT 370 RAID controller.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
