Problem 1.If one of our operators has a call on hold it shows the green LED on her phone like it is supposed to but it shows green on the other operators phones and every other phone in the system as well and the other operators are picking them up thinking they are new calls. How can i make it to where if she puts a call on hold it shows green on her phone and red on everyone else's phone.

Problem 2.on our phones we have the MLX-20,and MLX-28d's
and a bunch of MLS-12's.How can choose which outside line is gonna be on whatever button i want it on.for example right now when i add personal lines to a phone it auto puts them.going like this Line1 button 1,Line2 button2.it has them going up and then to the next row.How do i get it to where i can put the line buttons across instead of up and down.

Problem3.how to i change the rings type so when someone calls in on an outside line it is not the same ring as if someone calls me on an icom.

it is a Merlin LEgend R7 V14.2. Sorry i forgot to add this in.

Sounds like you need to train your operator's on how the telephone system works! An unused line has the "red" button lit. A line that is in use (either an outgoing call or an incomming call that has been answered) will show both a "red and green" light. An active call that has been placed on "hold" will flash "red and green". This is not something you can change. It also seems that you are operating this system in "key" mode versus "hybrid/PBX". In "key" mode, the default is that ecevry line attached to the system shows up on every phone. You may need to consider changing the mode of operation - where only the real operator positions can "see" all lines - and no one else. As for the how the line buttons appear - you can program the sequence of line selection - and you can move the line buttons around to where you want them - but it is tedious. The default is that on an operator phone the two bottom right-most buttons are for intercom and the line buttons go up in sequence to the top, then shift to the right bottom-most button and go up, etc. until all lines are displayed. On non-operator phones - some buttons will be skipped (left blank), but the processi much the same.

my system is in Hybrid/PBX mode already.
and how can you change teh line buttons around.

If your system is in hybrid/PBX mode than you must have "shared line" buttons programmed to have each line show up on every phone - rather than having just a pool button(s) for all lines. Is there a need to have all lines show up on ALL phones? Ususally only the operator positions need all lines to show up - so they can monitor what is going on. How many operator positions do you have? Are they "true" operator positions (meaning those extensions are recognized by the system as "operator" positions?

As for moving the buttons around - you would have to use centralized extension programming. First make space where you need to move the line buttons by deleting whatever is programmed on that particular button. Then add the line button you want - where you want it. Then delete the line button where you don't want it. It is a bit tedious.

Ok - my mistake on explaining the button lights. A steady "red" light by a line button means an available line which is not in use. A steady "green" light means the line is in use. A flashing "green": light means an incomming call is ringing, or a call you transferred is returning on this line button. A fast-flashing "green" light means you have placed a call "on-hold" on this line. A slow-flashing "green" light means someone else has placed a call "on-hold" on this line button.

User Guides are available for the download from the Avaya website along with all the manuals covering programming, etc. on the LEGEND and MAGIX.

When you are programming line appearances on specific buttons you can use extra SA buttons as "place holders" to get the lines arranged the way you want them, then remove them. This is necessary because the LINE will take presidence over a feature button starting at the lowest numbered button. Once the lines are where you want them, then you can add the features needed.

Hope this helps!
