I cannot register a server. I keep getting the following error:

"A connection could not be established to SQL01 - Access denied. ConnectionOpen(CreateFile())....

Please verifty SQL Server is running and check your SQL Server Registration properties (by right-clicking on the SQL01 node) and try again."

I know that the SQL Server is running, I can access the tables on the server itself. This error occurs when I try to attach from a workstation.

Thanks,
Dennis

Dennis, verify that the server and client are both capable of using the same protocol (i.e., if the client is set to Named Pipes, the server also has Named Pipes as one of its protocols; ditto for TCP/IP).

Also, did you set up the server for NT security or mixed (NT/Standard)?
