A Challange to all you VPN Pros! 1

Hi all!

My Goal: To vpn into my work so I can work from home.
Problem: My employeer won't give me VPN due to coporate reasons.

The Conitions:
1. My work uses a private IP scheme on the inside.
2. I can have a static private IP but not a public one.
3. I have no access to the router.
4. I have a dedicated machine at work with full admin running XP Pro.
5. There is a firewall which has a proxy that has HTTP through port 8080.

Is it possible for me to get access to my work networks so I can remote desktop machines, fix printers, install software etc.. and work from home?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not without allowing ports for VPN, like UDP/TCP 1720, and other configurations...oh---you also need a VPN server, and if there is one, then you need the right credentials, but it does not sound like you have one.
You can't just VPN into a network without a VPN server that holds all the credentials.

I think the challenge is to get your employer to change their mind.

As Brian said you need a VPN server or Firewall/Router with a VPN service installed. Without that and proper rights, you're at a brick wall.

You really need to get permission from your employer. We have policies that strictly prohibit such access and if caught circumventing any security to allow such access without special authorization is grounds for termination. But i will get off my soap box and let you decide your own fate. The solution to your situation sounds to be something like

it may be your best option. Its not free but if you use the promo code of bobandtom i think its trialware for 45 days. Its not terribly expensive if you decide to continue use. Back on my soap box, if i caught you using this on my network you would be terminated....
