We recently upgrade to windows 2000 server. We reinstall networker server but it doesn't work well!
We have three networker card. Two in fast ethernet channel and another alone. We put all client in the DNS, all reply to "ping" and "nslookup".
Now, backup are slow, we must stop them! Some client aren't backup and the following error occur :

hn013:All 3 retries attempted

We have also this kind of error :

02/23/02 01:57:51 PM savegrp: command 'save -s hn100 -g LBKoffice -LL -m hn024 -l full -q -W 78 -N SYSTEM STATE:\ SYSTEM STATE:\ ' for client hn024 exited with return code 128.
02/23/02 01:57:51 PM savegrp: hn024:SYSTEM STATE:\ will retry 5 more time(s)

I think that multiple network card doesn't work well...
can somebody help me?

Check to make sure that you network cards are configured properly. You may have a problem with your cards running half duplex and your switch running full duplex (or the other way around). This can slow you backups down to a crawl. Also do not use auto config on the network cards, it almost never works properly force them in to the correct configuration.

Well, this is not really a pnp environment but it's important that you are sure why you need to have three NICs on the BU server. If you for some reason need to stay with that you have to go through a few steps to make sure everything is configured in a right way.
1. Check that all NIC and Switch ports on BU server and all clients are talking the same language lime "John7" is suggesting. Try to stay away from Autosense mode AND Autonegotiation modes.

2. make sure all clients and all Nics in the server are represented with the correct Ipaddress and names (Short and Long) in DNS; NIS or Hosts.

3. Make sure All clients have their short and long names in the alias fileds.

4. Check res/servers files on all clients and make sure you have the bu servers short and long name there.

5. Configure the NWADMIN GUI to show details and put the name or address on the bu servers NIC you want to use for backups in all clients "server network interface" field.

There are probably a few other things to look into but try these first.
