9i Personal: Intallation failure

Hi guys

I know this is 8i but I'm hoping someone may have experience with this.

I'm trying to install 9i personal on a Xeon dual processor running 2000 and the setup exe dies with a quick flash of the egg timer.
I've done the work around for the symcjit dll (before I realised I was working on a Xeon) - no joy.

I downloaded 2 of the 3 zip files at home and burned them to CD (cause my cable is faster than the LAN), and found in the README file a warning not make hard copies of the files - might this be related.
All downloads were successful and I had no problems unzipping.

Am I missing something obvious.

It is probably the mixture of downloads you used. Could you try it again?

Hi Ken

I'll probably download the third file tonight at home and have a go at installing from disk to check the files. Different processor (Athlon) but same OS.
