Hi,
You may see at the bios setup if Modem wake up on ring is enabled. that may be your problem. Andre Silva

Ive had the same problem before. To fix my problem i removed the modem drivers then reinstalled them. It may work for you too.

When removing the modem drivers, it can help to boot up in safe mode and remove the device form the device manager, then shut down. Remove the card, boot up normally, shut down, put the modem back in, and finally turn it back on. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your modem when you do this. I realize these steps are many, but from experience, modems can be a bit of a bugger with the Win family.

Good luck.

If the modem is sharing resources with any other device, lots of things can go wrong.
If you find that removing and reinstalling the modem doesn't work (do it in Safe Mode!), then restart in Safe Mode again, and remove the modem(s) and all com ports as well.
Restart, and go into BIOS setup.
Disable com 2 (and com 1 if you're not using it), set "Reset configuration data" to YES, set "PnP OS Installed" to NO.
Restart, and let everything reinstall.
Cheers,
Jim
