New here and hope this inquiry is in the right forum and techs at Alltel/DSL are of no help.
I am having a recurring, 4 out of ten times, message, that says I am not on the 'Net, when in fact I am. It asks me if I wish to work offline, or retry.
When I click on the retry, it opens up the site I am trying to access.

I have tried somedays without my anti-viral program, as well as my firewall, and still, these messages come up preventing me from access the 'net 20% of the time.

I am "running" 98 2nd, using Internet Explorer (Version 6.0.2800.1106)

Also running high DSL from Alltel with no proxies.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this occurs as well as How I might remedey the situation as so I have constant access without those interruptions?
Thanks in advance

Terry Lee

In IE, go to Tools>Internet Options>Connections>LAN Settings. Uncheck everything here. If that doesn't help, go back to the connections page, run the internet connection wizard.

Have done all that..three times..no fix. I have even taken the advice of the other person on the other forum page that told me to D/L "winsockfix.zip" which changed nothing as well.......thanks...next...?

Just to simplify things, here is the applet I get about 20 times a day and until I click on, "retry" I cannot access any sites.
