Hi guys !
I am facing a problem and I am a kid on Networking.
I have a small network using Summit x250. There is no routers on that.
I have configured two subnets (10.200.32.0/22 and 10.206.183.0/24) and 2 VLANs, to voice and data.
My DHCP is on data subnet (10.200.32.244).
My Call Server is on voice subnet (10.206.183.5).
The issue is that, my phones don't are receiving IP address from DHCP, but the PC are receiving with no problem.

Note: the Call server is on switch and DHCP is on another one on network. There is a uplink between Call Server switch and DHCP swithch.

242 option was configured on DHCP server, as follows:
Data scope
L2Q=1,L2QVLAN=40,VLANTEST=0

Voice scope
Voice
MCIPADD=10.206.183.5,MCPORT=1719,HTTPSRVR=10.206.183.9,L2Q=1,L2QVLAN=40,VLANTEST=0

The configuration on Call server switch is:
Data Valan tag 30
Voice Vlan tag 40
ip forward enabled on both

show iproute
Ori Destination Gateway Mtr Flags VLAN Duration
#d 10.200.32.0/22 10.200.32.1 1 U------um--f corporativa 5d:16h:35m:10s
#d 10.206.183.0/24 10.206.183.1 1 U------um--f Hardphone_A 5d:16h:35m:10s

The configuration on DHCP switch is:
Same VLANs
ip forward enabled on both

shoW iproute
Ori Destination Gateway Mtr Flags VLAN Duration
#s Default Route 10.200.32.1 1 UG---S-um--f corporativa 5d:16h:37m:19s
#d 10.200.32.0/22 10.200.32.2 1 U------um--f corporativa 5d:16h:37m:35s
#d 10.206.183.0/24 10.206.183.2 1 U------um--f Hardphone_A 5d:16h:37m:35s

Call Server port is DATA tagged and voice untagged
DHCP port, on another switch, is VOICE tagged and data untagged.

Any ideas about phone is not receiving IP address ?

Thanks in advance !

do L2Q and L2QVLAN and VLANTEST only once - in the data scope 176/242. Don't repeat in the voice vlan DHCP scope. Also, VLANTEST is ideally not 0. Your phone tags DHCP requests on VLAN 40 for a time equal to VLANTEST value in seconds. If 0, it will eternally tag on VLAN 40 - makes for you having to manually reset each phone if you ever change what VLAN they're on

Hi guys ! Many thanks for replies.

From kyle555
"do L2Q and L2QVLAN and VLANTEST only once ..."

Ok. I removed the repeated information from voice VLAN string and put VLANTEST=60 on data vlan string.
Now we have:
Data scope
L2Q=1,L2QVLAN=40,VLANTEST=60
Voice scope
MCIPADD=10.206.183.5,MCPORT=1719,HTTPSRVR=10.206.183.9

From mattKnight
"IS DHCP relay configured?"

Mate, I have configured it just on one switch.
I want know if I need to setup that at all and IP forward as well.

Thanks for now.

Claudio.

Do DHCP from wherever you like - if it needs to be relayed to a central server handling multiple subnets, so be it - just watch for leases in the voice scope when your phones eventually come up

Is not working yet [sad] !
I dont' know use a sniffer, but I can see some address on DHCP server lease. Anyway, the IP Phones shows "waiting for LLDP" yet.
Can I upload my network diagram here ?
How can I do that ?

As I said, I have a switch working as a core and two stacks. I setup "IP Forward Vlan" and bootprelay on both. Is it correct ?
LLDP is off for all ports.
bootprelay was enabled just for voice vlan.

There is something more that I need to check ?

Many thanks !

take a look at this presentation, starting on page 24, the initial DHCP Option 176/242 should only have the VLAN setting command, to switch the IP phones to the correct voice VLAN, then the voice VLAN DHCP scope would have the standard option 176/242 options. "Waiting for LLDP" means you don't have DHCP running on the VLAN the IP Phones are being switched to, check the scope and your IP helper settings on the LAN ports.

Mitch672, you are right !
The DHCP is on data VLAN (10.200.32.244) and the voice VLAN is on another subnet.

On page 24, I see voice devices just on voice VLAN.
My scenario has a G450 and a media server. Both are on data vlan tagged and voice vlan untagged. When I swap that, the voice terminals get in discover status.
There is some tip here ?

Thanks !

Claudio

If it was me, I would put the G450 and media server on the VOICE VLAN subnet, typically that is what is done. Just your PCs and Servers (domain controllers, email etc) would be on the data VLAN. The DHCP Server port itself also must be untagged of course as well.

Yes, they are on voice subnet (IP address).
The DHCP is on port data VLAN untagged and voice VLAN tagged.
G450 and media server have voice subnet IP address, but the ports are on voice VLAN untagged and data VLAN tagged.
At night, I'll run a new test removing the voice servers ports from data VLAN and after I'll report the results here.

Thanks mate !

Claudio.

make sure your DHCP server is on a port that ONLY has its data VLAN. ive seen many times that DHCP isnt offered correctly to phones when you have the voice VLAN tagged on the server port.

Friends, thanks for all !!!
But the phonnes show "waiting for LLDP" yet.

As I said two days ago, I changed the MG450 and Media Server port. Now they are just on Vouce VLAN.
Tomorrow I'll change the DHCP port, removing that from voice VLAN.

Updating tomorrow at night.

Thanks again, friends !!!

Claudio.

Hi all !
Now, the DHCP server is connected to port on data VLAN untagged. That port was deleted from voice VLAN.
"Waiting for LLDP" is disappeared, but now it is getting "DHCP: x secs" permanently.

Further information:
DCHP Server is on port 3:24 (four switches stack), just on data VLAN untagged.
G450 and media server are connected to a single switch, just on voice VLAN untagged.
bootprelay is configured on 2 stacks and for single switch.
=============
Bootprelay : Enabled on virtual router "VR-Default"
DHCP Relay Agent Information Option : Disabled on virtual router "VR-Default"

Bootprelay servers for virtual router "VR-Default":
Destination: 10.200.32.244
=============
10.200.32.244 is the DHCP IP address.

=============
BOOTP Relay : Enabled on virtual router "VR-Default"
VLAN BOOTP Relay
-------------------------------- -----------
Default Disabled
corporativa Disabled
Hardphone_A Enabled
=============

Hardphone_A is the voice VLAN's name.

Tks for now.

Claudio.
