I have a 9630 type phone seup using the 4620 phone configuration option. I tried using the 4630 option to configure the station and the phone would hang on "contacting call server" screen yet be fully functional and changing to 4620 resolve this problem.

My question is the native VM button on the phone isn't working, where is that mapped to so it works or should I be using a diffrent extension type that would coorespond to 9630 or even 9620 button better?

The native VM button is configured on the 46xxsettings.txt file.

The 46xxsettings file should include the MSGNUM variable. Read the LAN admin Guide and documentation for 96xx phones.

Remember, these phones are natively supported on CM4.0 and beyond. You can now set the VM button per station or continue to deliver the value via 46xxsettings.txt.

I am on CM 4 and am setting the MSGNUM for my MM access in the 46xxsettings.txt file. I reboot the phone and it gets the info from the file OK as other settings are working but when I hit the Message button on the 9640 (administered as a 9640) I get the error tone. I went and downloaded a new 46xxsettings file and noticed something that makes ZERO sense to me. Pay special attention to the "Note" below.

Why would this be? This is a parameter UNDER the 96xx settings so why would this be ignored if it is a 96xx phone??? Am I being penalized for having CM 4 and administering the phone as a 9640, which it is, instead of as an alias? Can anyone please help explain the logic on that?

Thanks!!!
Dave

SET MSGNUM 3900

Their is a place to specify the "voice mail" number on the station form, on a 96XX, with CM 4. Perhaps that is why they are saying this... This field on the station form overrides the MSGNUM in the 46xxsettings.txt entry.
