Has anyone out there ever seen this?

Sometime during the evening two times in the last two weeks a device causing a network storm essentially brings network down.

During this time all 96xx phone go into discover apparently not being able to contact network router.

Logical given the circumstances.

However, when network returns to normal 96xx phones stay in Discover until rebooted, when 1608 phones reconnect to their call server as normal.

Is there a "Discover Timeout" setting in the 96xx phones, if so can the "Timeout" be changed?

Mac table resets and the phone sit in discover till the phones are rebooted to reestablish to the network. Im guessing

You have a device that is bringing the entire network down and your posting to find a way to not have to reboot handsets....fix the network issue. Like when you have a power spike some devices are fine and some need rebooting, who knows why, why isn't important but resolving the underlying issue is.....

you need to be identifying the device that brings the network down , have monitor running on the ipo to collect any data that may assist(just in case its not what you thiNnk).... why not do an ooh reboot on the ipo and just see the difference between the 16xx and 96xx phones ... the 96xx if directed could have two settings files to look at so that could be causing latency.

But as pointed out above find out the crash reason , then start looking at why the 96xx are taking longer or indeed need the reboot ...same option string and dhcp server same 46xx file , and jpg screen savers all sorts could be going on, you need monitor running to log file and ideally a mirrored port on your network switch where a 96xx is plugged into with a pc and wireshark on the mirrored port . Then reboot and analyze

The question is and has been everyone, Does anyone know of a "Time-out" for the "Discover" process that exists in the 96xx phones that doesn't exist in the 16xx phones.
If so, is it an editable feature, possibly in the 46xx file.
