We have a starplus 96ex at a customers location with a dispatch voice mail and when the voice mail answers, there is dead air for a few seconds before the auto attendant answers and then when someone dials the digits to get to an extension there is another dead air delay before transfering. Is this a normal situation? Can this be fixed by something in programming? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. matt

I would re-record the main greeting. Start recording asap, no delays in the start. As far as the transfer delay I would try to find a place there where you can record " One moment please". I will check the manual to see if I can find where to record that and then post it back here.

The only thing I found on the transfer subject is if you have the system transferring to an extension in supervised mode. This will cause a delay as the system has to stay with a call until transferred to a mailbox after ringing the extension. I am pretty sure from other 96EX's I've worked on that there is no inband signalling in this system. The technology of this system is not compatible (fully integratable) with voicemail. Since you are a vendor you should be able to call Vodavi tech support for the best answers. Good Luck...

We have 2 96EX systems in use in schools and yes, that delay is normal for that system. To keep people from wondering if they were cut off I installed a music source which will play when on hold or during transfers to let people know they are still connected.
