Hi, brand new to Avaya CM and 9611G phones. Testing our first one, and coming from Nortel/CS1K world.

Question: We use Jabra wired headsets, specifically model "Jabra GN2100 3-in-1, Noise Canceling, STD (2104-820-105)" This headset plugs into a quick-connect cable, and from there I have plugged it directly into the headset port on the back of the 9611G phone. Ear has sound, mic won't transmit.

I'm having a panicky feeling I'm going to need what we used to call an amplifier, i.e. an adjunct device that sits between the phone and the headset. (Example: http://www.jabra.com/Products/Accessories/Audio_Enhancers/Jabra_LINK_850) Bums me out, because this was not needed on Nortel phones.

Thoughts?

Go to Jabra site and check their compatibility information. You may need a different interface cable.

Are you using the GN1216 Jabar cable. and if so do you have the selector switch set correctly.
If you are using a Plantronics or Avaya cable it needs to be a HIS cable, if memory servers.

Thanks guys. I dug up a quick connect cable that has the tiny switch settings on it, and there is ONE position that allows this headset to work. I also noticed that Jabra recommends a certain model quick connect cable (part nos 88001-03 and 88001-04). I thought all those quick connect cables were generic/standard like a line cord or handset cord, but I guess not. This is good news...looks like I won't have to buy amps.

There is no standard for the interface for headset connectors. It will change from manufacturer to manufacturer and even between different models from the same manufacturer. That is why headset manufacturers typically have a "compatibility guide" and a variety of different interface cables.

Go to the jabra website and update the firmware of the headset.
