This is a large client with CM 5.2.1 that added additional 9611 sets. They were using a specific number range 9970-9976 for the new stations. All appear to be programmed just like other 9611 stations in the system and the stations register to the system. However, any 9611 assigned one of these numbers does not show the extension number on the SA button label but it shows a name, "Karen". The new sets have been defaulted and programmed with no change, other working stations that are logged in using these extension numbers get the same name treatment, the new phones programmed as any other extension get the proper labeling. If I look at the phonebackup file, there is no mention of Karen. If I look at the 46xxtxt file, I find nothing obvious that is causing it. I have checked UDP, dial plan, station programming, etc. and all appears to be normal. I'm starting to consider software corruption as a possibility. Also, that is such a nice grouping of extension numbers so they may have been used in the past for something and the system is not forgetting them.

Any ideas of where else to search?

Thanks.

Button labelling?

display button-la
for tha station and see what's there

you can clear it by setting "customise button labels" to n on teh relevant station form

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Thanks, Matt. I had looked at the custom labeling field in the station form before but did not change it since there was no custom label that we could see anywhere. I had the customer change the setting from the default "yes" to "no" and the displayed name turned into the extension number almost immediately. They changed the field back to yes and the display stayed as the number. Your idea fixed the problem but it makes me crazy to not know how or why.

Thanks for your assistance. Appreciate it.

Never saw this command, is there a way to label a button via ASA as opposed to from the phone or abbrv system speed dial?

NewNic, I think you may have replied to the wrong thread.
