I have a Avaya CM Release 6.2 that has been installed for about three years. In the last two weeks we have seen phones randomly rebooting and it is getting worse. The phones are in different area's of the building, so different network switches ( Extreme POE ). My thought was something on the network has changed, DHCP server, but the network group says no. They are working with us but no one seems to be able to figure it out. We have a couple phones that will reboot 10-15 times a day. I did try replacing a few with new but that made no difference.

Any chance that the POE for that switch is overloaded/over capacity? Does the data switch show any faults/alarms/bad events?

I originally thought of that. However, it is multiple areas and different switches.

Is there anything that indicates its a freeze as opposed to just losing power? Like, when it reboots, does the screen lock up for a second or does it just go black and boot up a few seconds later?

No it looks like the phone was unplugged. CM captures it via IP events. I did see it say " DHC ACK error " today while watching one that restarted. I am also running Wireshark currently with one of the network guys. Hopefully we can catch one.

Are all of the phone running the same firmware? What version?
