We've been using legacy Netgear VPN for remote access and remote 9608's with great success and stability for years but time has come to try and find new moderately priced replacement.
Note: We're talking about for smaller clients. So not more than 10 remote phones.

Full disclosure. Initial setup for Netgear was done by another gentlemen. So have just been using spreadsheet and configuring based on original setup. So did not do VPN on Netgear.

Was thinking about looking at TP-Link ER605 as replacement. At $60 US new very reasonably priced.
1. Has anyone tried using this as solution.
2. Says supports IP-Sec. But not my area of expertise. If someone more versed in VPN could see if would even be option for replacement would be great.
3. If anyone would want to work with me on this would be glad to pay them to put together TP-Link configuration and spreadsheet for 9608 setup.

VPN setups can be tricky. I have only done physical phone VPN's using Cisco and Sonicwall. I am sure there are others but a VPN appliance for $60 sounds to good to be true.

Z-man. That's why I'm trying to find out if could work. From doing research seems key is if can do X-Auth which from what I can see the ER-605 doesn't support.

i know the Sonicwall is ten times more, but if it saves you time, it might be worth it.

I am actually trying that as I type - so far, I'm stuck as it tells me "IKE Phase 1 no resposne"
If I get it to work, I'll try to post again.
