We had a 9608 VPN phone setup at a client's home and worked perfectly on Time Warner. She moved and switched to Comcast and has a DPC3941T (Cisco) router with them. I checked and this model does support VPN Sec Tunnels but the phone says discover now when trying to connect. We can see the tunnel established in the Sonic Wall at the main site.
She has a Asus RT-AC68R Dual Band, 802.11 AC Gigabit router at her house that she also put in with the move.
Could the Asus be blocking something? Trying to figure out where to start. Any help would be great. Thanks

I have a VPN 9608 running over Comcast with an ASUS router behind my own Surfboard cable modem.

The only difference between these setups is the Cisco DPC3941T - that looks like a combo modem/wireless router. Could the Cisco have 802.1Q enabled?

What is the phone trying to discover - a local IP address or the phone server? Has the tunnel actually been built?

Discovering the IP Office address. I am seeing if I can login to the Sonic Wall and see if the tunnel has been built. I will post the results. I haven't logged into the Cisco but will try to do that today as well. Thanks

If it's trying to discover IP Office then it sounds like the tunnel is built - if the tunnel failed the phone would have errored out long before discovery.

Is the phone programmed to find IP Office by name or address?

Does it try to discover the IPO I trace address that is reachable through VPN or the other LAN interface?

And the LAN interface has the route to the VPN phone or has the WAN/LAN2 interface the route?
