Installing a new 9608 phone and it doesn't see the phone system. It is plugged into the same network switch as the phone system with no VLAN established. IP Offce is a 11.1 I have many avaya endpoint licenses available for more phones to install but trying to get one to work first.
Set up of the phone is Phone IP 192.168.1.205
Call Server IP 192.168.1.201
Router IP 192.168.1.1
Mask IP 255.255.255.0
HTTP IP 192.168.1.201

When I programmed the settings is says " waiting for LLDP" then says " contacting call server" then it asks for extension number and password. As soon as I enter the extension number and password it immediately shows " Discover 192.168.1.201.

I can ping the system and phone but nothing else.
Thank you

Have you tried the phone password and not the user password.

Phone password is set in Extensions.

Usually when the phone boots up for security it will ask for the phone password first.
Then when connected it will ask for login user name and password.

I've seen this when you're trying to log a H.323 phone into a SIP extension. Check the exstension you're trying to log into to make sure it's H.323 and not SIP.

Thanks, Tim

I thought I tried the extension and password but still didn't work. When I am back on site on Monday I will doublecheck.

This extension is setup as H.323 not SIP. That I know.

I having this same issue this morning.
I decided to add a couple H.323 phones to my system. 9611, and 9641G.
They both boot up, I get 200 Ok for all, prompted for extension and password.
After authenticating, I get Discover.. and it hangs there.

I created a new 46xxsettings.txt file with a blank entry for trustedcerts and rebooted phone to ensure the old cert if any, were removed, cleared the phone, then deleted the 46xxsettings.txt file to have the autogenerated one re-instated.

Phone booted with the same discover message.

IP Office R11 11.1.2.1.0 build 3

Is the H.323 gatekeeper enabled under LAN1/VOIP? I've noticed on new systems that H.323 is disabled by default, even if you build extensions as H.323.

H.323 is enabled. Switched to a different LAN port after a discussion with their IT department. Now it doesn’t ask for login after it says contacting sever then goes directly to the Avaya one-X screen. Doesn’t show discover but sits at the screen for a few minutes then reboots. This pattern has been going on for a while now.

hi travis

So if they are H.323 why are you getting SIP messages ?

Hi shermanchicken.

Try and manually set the ip info on the phones and see if they connect.
Make sure vlan is None.

Or take the ipo off the network and connect a small data switch to your lan and see if it connects
This will prove if it’s a network issue.

Where are the phones getting dhcp from.

@snowman50.

The 200 codes are not sip messages, they are the messages the phone displays when grabbing the 46xxsettings.txt file, firmware, and certificate. I was just making the point that the phone does appear to grabbing the relevant files.

@snowman50 & @Shermanchicken.

H.323 Gatekeep was indeed disabled.
I have re-enabled it, and rebooted the H.323 phones.

Still getting Discover.

All SIP devices are functioning normally.

@biv343 and all..
I did enable H.323 Gatekeeper, but I forgot to "Save to IP Office"
After doing that the H.232 phones are now working.

Pink for you @biv343

Set the static IP of the phone and when it gets to the login I enter the proper extension and phone password it now just sits at the login screen. Pressing any button does nothing.

I get to this point over and over again and it freezes.

Glad the checkbox fixed it. In my situation the IPO was new (installed on 11.0.4 SP6), but the customer was moving 9608s moving from another site. I thought it was a network/VLAN issue until I saw that Avaya didn't leave H.323 enabled by default anymore. I had to fall on the sword for that one.

that deserves a *!
I have been working on IPO since Network Alchemy (23+years?) & still find myself making this mistake when trying to test new settings [banghead]

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
