I installed some 9608 phones last year before they stopped selling them. Luckily they had few problems.

The IPO is on R6.1. What version of firmware should I upgrade to phones to?

Am I going to have move the whole thing to 8.0 to get a stable system?

Thanks.

I would wait until it is released.
It could be different from the IPO version.

6.2 from support.avaya.com has file named S9608_11HALBR6_2_0_09_V452.tar

Where can be get trial to try it?

You cannot just request a trial.
Just be little bit more patience, it will come out soon.

We have a number of new 9608s that fail to load the tar file S9608_11HALBR6_1r38_V4r52.tar

I know they are not supported on IP Office but we thought we would get them going and upgrade later. But guess what cannot get these to even load there files.

Any ideas?

Oh yes the kicker is I have some earlier 9608s that do load the file.

Crashtest1000, we did not stop selling them.
You must do something wrong.

What we found is the 6.1 files would not load onto the new 9608 handsets so down loaded 6.2 tar files and off she went.

[cheers]

But those files are for the CM and not for the IPO!

I know we were some one desperate to get it going hope the site hangs together until the new Maint release arrives on the 9th.

Life on the edge.

PS the phones that wont load the files are serial numbers starting with 12WZ

I keep an eye on it.
The next trials are posponed 2 weeks so there is a slight delay which is good because i still have a tiny bug open :)

I noticed that the upgraded phones (i only rebooted 2 phones) have a lower version!!!

The upgraded phones have 6.2013 and the other phones have 6.2.175.
I guess they are changing it to the CM firmware???

Q1 2012 maintenance release for IP Office 7.0 and iP Office 8.0 were just posted to the avaya support portal. The Q1 2012 maintenance release for IP Office 7.0 includes re-introduction of the 9608/9621G/9641G. The Q1 2012 maintenance release for IP Office 8.0 includes re-introduction of the 9608/9621G/9641G plus introduction of the 9611G. Both maintenance releases include 6.2.0.13 software for these models.

Have a look at the Technical Bulletin(s) for a known issue with upgrading from a factory IP Deskphone running 6.0 software to this load.

For those of you running

Do you still have VPN settings listed under the CRAFT# menu?

I recently upgraded to 8.0(44) and I've lost the VPN menu altogether on the phones that were flashed with the above firmware.

Any ideas?

Yes, Avaya removed the VPN part of the firmware, they couldn't make it work so they simply avoided the issue and removed the option :)

@amriddle01

Really? Is this documented anywhere? Is there a way to downgrade back to the older firmware?

Why? the VPN option did not work so why leave it in?
You need to use the remote worker option for this.
